Spring is on its way, see below a selection of photos taken by members. The first is a nice example of a flowing quince Chaenomeles (was Cydonia) flowering early as it is trained against a warm sunny trellis.. There are three wild species of these deciduous, sometimes spiny, shrubs, from China and Japan. Garden forms are available in red, pink and white. They can be grown as rather loose bushes but are usually trained as wall plants. This is not the quince grown principally for fruit but any fruit that is produced is palatable when cooked.
