U18 Class: The category with the most entries was the "Tallest Sunflower". With no entries for the "Largest Bloom" category, the judges decided to award a 2nd prize in the Tallest Sunflower category. Over 18s Class: Again, the category with the most entries was the "Tallest Sunflower". With no adult entries in the "Crafted Sunflower" section, the judges awarded a 2nd prize for the "Tallest Sunflower" category. The prize winners are: Tallest Sunflower 1st Isla Wightman 335cm 2nd Valerie McAdam 225cm Largest Sunflower Head Margaret Ann Crawford 40.5cm diameter
Photo of Sunflowers in my Garden: Although just one prize winners, the judges felt there were two other photos worthy of commendation. Barrie Nicolson – 1st prize. The photo clearly showed it was a garden and using the young tree as a support for the sunflowers was neat. Christine Atkins – Highly Commended. Chosen for colour of blooms and quantity. Val Watt – Highly Commended. A very nice healthy looking sunflower.

CHALLENGE CATEGORIES. In each of the 4 categories there will be two classes, one for under 18s and one for over 18s.
Tallest Sunflower: Take a photo of your sunflower with a measure beside it. You can grow the seedling distributed by us or grow your own from seed. Largest Sunflower Head: Take a photo of your sunflower head with a measure across it to show the diameter of the full bloom, from petal to petal. You can grow the seedling distributed by us or grow your own from seed. “Sunflowers in my garden”: Take a photo of your sunflowers in your garden. A Crafted Sunflower: Maybe you don’t have a garden, maybe you just love crafting, join us in the sunflower challenge by sending in a photo of a crafted sunflower you have created this summer. (Knitted, sewn, papercraft etc)
TO ENTER Photos should be taken in August 2020 and sent to email@example.com clearly giving name and address. All entries should be received by 29th August 2020. If entrants are under 18, entries should be submitted by a parent or guardian and the age of the entrant should be given on the email.
The judges’ decision is final, in sending your photos you confirm that the photograph is your own and agree that the photos can be used by North Berwick in Bloom, North Berwick Gardening Club and Sustaining North Berwick on their websites and in any publicity.
