Have fun in 2023 growing sunflowers and join in the challenge.
We are looking for the tallest sunflower, the largest bloom, and photos of sunflowers in your garden. The competition is open to all living in North Berwick and the surrounding area in East Lothian and the closing date 1 September 2023.

CHALLENGE CATEGORIES.In each of the 3 categories there will be two classes, one for under 18s and one for over 18s.
Tallest Sunflower: Take a photo of your sunflower with a measure beside it. You can grow the seedling distributed by us or grow your own from seed.
Largest Sunflower Head: Take a photo of your sunflower head with a measure across it to show the diameter of the full bloom, from petal to petal. You can grow the seedling distributed by us or grow your own from seed.
Photographic competition “Sunflowers in my garden”: Take a photo of your sunflowers in your garden looking their best.
TO ENTER Photos should be taken in 2023 and sent to nbinbloom@gmail.com clearly giving name and address. All entries should be received by 1st September 2023. If entrants are under 18, entries should be submitted by a parent or guardian and the age of the entrant should be given on the email.
The judges’ decision is final, in sending your photos you confirm that the photograph is your own and agree that the photos can be used by North Berwick in Bloom, North Berwick Gardening Club and Sustaining North Berwick on their websites and in any publicity.
RESULTS The results of our 2023 challenge will be announced by 1st October 2023 and posted on the North Berwick Gardening Club website www.northberwickhortisoc.com

The judges were also delighted to award Highly Commended to Tantallon Court for their entry; to Margaret Ann Crawford for her selection of sunflowers and David Liddle from Dalkeith, who took a seedling away from our May Plant event and sent in his photo.

U18 Classes: The category with the most entries was the "Tallest Sunflower". The judges also awarded an addition prize for Alfie Pugh's very unusual picture of "Sunflower heads within sunflower heads"
